Everyone did their best to distance from people they did not know, though. The other two pools (for adults) were rather crowded. No one wanted to go into the cold, regular swimming pool on the day we were there. There are a couple of different ones, kept at different temperatures. The hot springs themselves are the type that are built like swimming pools. The problem was that the locker room was quite small, so it was really hard to keep your distance from others while trying to get ready. It was a cold and rainy day (typical for the area.) The fee to get in was reasonable. We were there in the tourist off-season, so we were able to drive up and get in without waiting. I was so exicted to FINALLY get to go to Sol Duc after if opened up after Covid restrictions were lessened. I am a big fan of hot springs, and I've visited many. While the hot springs are a nice treat, the place is overpriced for the quality of what you get with the cabins, "resort" services and the service overall. The staff at the hotel (except for one young man at the restaurant counter who was great) seemed very inexperienced and were not service-oriented in their interactions with us and other guests. The restaurant has a limited menu and is not open for dining, it is take-out service only (and you can eat in their dining area if you want). The pathway from the parking area to the cabin was muddy (no gravel or anything), had trash in it and there was an area where they had dug a hole around a water pipe and had left it somewhat open. The rooms are tired, the bed was old and was a deformed shape and the cleaning staff is not on top of ensuring they are set up well for the next guest - our "kitchenette" only had one mug, one wineglass - the only things we brought to enjoy in our cabin was a bottle of wine and some good coffee. The changing rooms were dirty with equipment left out, in a couple of cases causing tripping hazards. The resort is in need of maintenance in many areas. We realize sometimes things happen and the internet situation was out of their control, but they were not apologetic at all and did not warn us before we arrived (which could have been done easily via email or text). Luckily my husband had a stash of cash with him, we had planned to eat all our meals at their restaurant vs driving long distances to other places so we needed the cash to eat. When we arrived we were told their internet was down (due to an issue down the road) and therefore anything we wanted to pay for during our stay we had to do with cash vs credit cards. It is a good hour from other places to eat out or pick up food. The place is called a "resort" with the hot springs, cabins and a restaurant. That is where our "love" or even like ended. We loved the hot spring pools, the hikes nearby were great and it was nice to be there when there was a late snowfall.
